Bowler Ashwin wins ICC Cricketer of the Year Award

The super spinner Ravichandran Ashwin was named officially as the ICC Cricketer of the Year. He is the only Indian featured in the ICC – International Cricket Council’s Test Cricketer of the Year in this year. Did you know? Ashwin is the third cricket player in India to win this recognition. Previously only Rahul Dravid in 2004 and Sachin Tendulkar in 2010 were the proud recipients of this honor. Ashwin also becomes the second player to win two major awards in a single year after Rahul Dravid in 2004.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India called as BCCI had congratulated Ashwin for this Award. Ashwin also said that it has been a great past two years for him and he feels more special and happy. He said to have dedicated this recognition to his family members and thanked ICC and importantly all the Indian Team members.

Ravichandran Ashwin is a right-handed batsman and off break bowler who plays for Tamil Nadu in domestic cricket. He plays for Pune Supergiants team in IPL. He took a five-wicket haul on this test debut itself and no wonder he is aptly selected for this Award.
